A Level 2 charger adds roughly 25 to 40 miles of range per hour, which means a full overnight charge for nearly any commute. It is one of the most practical upgrades an EV owner can make.
EV chargers are among the largest continuous loads in a home, so the circuit and panel capacity behind them matter. Some homes need a panel upgrade to charge safely — many do not. We run the load numbers first, and if load-management equipment or a smaller charging circuit solves it without a panel upgrade, we tell you that.
Permits & inspections
EV charger circuits require an electrical permit and inspection in Massachusetts. Bright Bee handles the permit and coordinates the inspection.

Should I get a hardwired charger or a NEMA 14-50 outlet?+
Hardwired chargers support higher charging speeds and are the more permanent solution; a NEMA 14-50 outlet offers plug-in flexibility. We walk through how you charge and recommend the option that fits.
Can you install a Tesla Wall Connector?+
Yes. We install Tesla Wall Connectors as well as chargers from ChargePoint, Emporia, Wallbox, and other major brands — including customer-supplied units.
Will my panel need an upgrade for an EV charger?+
Not always. We perform a load calculation first. If your service has capacity, we install the circuit directly; if it is tight, load-management equipment can often avoid a full panel upgrade. We only recommend a panel upgrade when it is genuinely required.
Can the charger go outside for driveway parking?+
Yes. Chargers and receptacles rated for outdoor use can be installed for driveway charging, with weather-resistant equipment and GFCI protection.
Do EV charger installations need a permit?+
Yes, in Massachusetts a new EV charging circuit requires a permit and inspection. Bright Bee takes care of both.
